A game about saving nature and the legacy of humanity
Game Description
This game will be a 2D Metroidvania style side-scroller with an emphasis on platforming and environmental interaction. Players will wander through the desolate landscape to learn of their mission, the past of the world and why it came to be and decide weather to finish the mission or not. Along the way they will gain power-ups that make traversing the world easier and make more parts of it accessible.

Innovation Claim
This project is innovative because it actively asks player to pay attention to and interact with the environment rather than the background and platforms just being set pieces.

Usage Scenario
This game would be targeted to the indie scene and made as a passion project for people in their teens and up, with the main audience being people who love games like Metroid and Hollow Knight. People will play this to see new and inventive ways to play their games and for the feelings and ideas I hope it inspires.
Basic Game Play
The basic game play is from a 2D side scroller where the main objective is to gain access to the final area of the game and plant the seed to carry on life. While exploring you will find new abilities such as double jump or weapon attack upgrades that make the game easier and make more of the map accessible. Enemies and dangers will be placed throughout to make it more challenging and enemies will get progressively stronger in areas that are farther along in the game. Players can attack and avoid enemies as well as use abilities to incapacitate or defeat them.
The most unique function of the game play will be interreacting with the environment. The game will have a day night cycle in the final product and during the day in in direct light the player can use an ability to heal themselves, they will be unable to do this at night unless they have an upgrade. Other interactions include digging

Punishment and Rewards
The players are rewarded by navigating different areas of the map with new abilities and powerups that make them stronger and add new elements to the game, wile they are punished if they lose all their health with being returned to the last checkpoint. Check points are provided at different points in the map and will usually be after a tough challenge.
Audio and Art Highlights
The art style will be that of a desolate post-apocalyptic world with little to no vegetation and lots of clouds and dust and sand. The main feeling the player should get is desperation and oppression from the main world. There will be cave and other environments to explore but many should follow this lead and seem very dead and deserted except for insectoid and fungal life. Sound should be very atmospheric with an eerie-ness to it.

Back Story
In an alternate timeline the world has been destroyed, a nuclear apocalypse took the lives of most humans immodestly and the few that survived died after only 10 years. In those 10 years however, they started a project that they hoped would save their species, or at least the hope of life. They created a large dome which would house a “tree of life”. Inside this tree would be instructions on how to create a new sentient species that would be guided by digital humans on how to rebuild the earth and how not to make the same mistakes as them, this would include teaching and cultivating the new species. Unfortunately, only 1 dome was completed and even then only 1 of the seedlings for the tree was ever engineered. In a last-ditch effort, one of the scientist working on the project had his consciousness uploaded to a prototype artificial brain and placed inside a worker robot to deliver the lone seed to the dome. This is the story of that scientist as he make his way to the tree over hundreds of years.
